It’s not a surprise that emerald, the color of the year for 2013, is one of our biggest obsessions these days. This stylish pop of color goes well with everything and I am loving this take on gem tones using emerald and lapis blue, captured by Erin Johnson Photography and created by Life Design Events.
A bride who isn’t afraid to throw on a sequined shrug to beat the chilly weather? Color me thrilled! Newlyweds Jessie and Jessica traveled to New England for a lakeside ceremony and a reception full of rustic appeal, bits of glitter, and bridesmaids wearing their finest sequin and lace duds! Thanks to Dreamlove Photography for sharing this wedding with us.
From the bride, Jessica: Jesse and I are both from Ohio but I spent most of my summers in New Hampshire and knew that fall in New England would be a perfect setting for our wedding. The Bluewater Lodge was the perfect mix of rustic, nature, and simplistic beauty. Designing the wedding was definitely one of the most fun things I had ever done… thank goodness for Pinterest to keep all of my thoughts organized and inspiration flowing! I knew I wanted the colors to be natural but with lots of textures and sparkle!
One reason our wedding day felt so much like a fairy-tale like was that Jesse and I had not seen each other for eight weeks (I was in NH completing a clinical for school) so one of the best parts of that weekend was just being together again. Our written vows, our talented musicians, and the sun glistening over Mt. Kearsarge made the ceremony even more magical. Our reception was the best party we could have asked for. My 11-year-old brother stole the night with his gangnam style dance!
My advice for future DIY brides is to: Hire someone to execute your design and be prepared for the chaotic energy that takes place the day of (and know that it’s normal!). Our wedding weekend was nothing without all the love and support we had from all our friends and family. Everyone pitched in one way or another to make our day so special and for that, we are so grateful. It was truly the most beautiful and enchanting day we could have ever asked for.
What can I possibly say about this wedding to do it justice? Once in a while we run across weddings that make our hearts ache and long for wedding do-overs, and today’s beauty from Paper Antler is just one of those weddings. Jackie and Grant returned to Jackie’s hometown of Atlanta and celebrated with vintage centerpiece bottles, ping pong tables, and perfectly mismatched bridesmaids dresses.
From the photographers, Paper Antler: Jackie and Grant are college sweethearts who decided to celebrate their wedding in Jackie’s hometown of Atlanta. Their ceremony was in a historic church downtown and the reception was at the beautiful Summerour, a renovated warehouse with a Tuscan style courtyard. Their whole day had a soft, vintage feel, from the bride’s lace dress and flower headpiece, to the light pink and grey color palette. However, the fried southern food, ping pong tables at the cocktail hour, and colorful mismatched bottle centerpieces made it quirky and personal to them.
