Pretty Pastels + Dahlias

I’m in utter heaven with this styled shoot from Jaclyn Davis — total floral heaven. Peachy floral arrangements never get old for me, and these vintage dresses in sorbet colors are the perfect match. They’d make such great bridesmaids dresses! Continue on to see some serious perfection styled by Flora Bond and florals by Lemon Blossom Designs:

From the stylist, Nicole of Flora Bond and Laura of Lemon Blossom Designs: For this shoot, we created a sweet rustic-meets-Anthropologie ambiance, with vintage flowing dresses in pinks and ivories and accessories with pretty pleats and ruffles. The entire color palette included mint blue as the base color and was accented by pops of peach, orange, yellow, pink, coral, red, and burgundy. For the table flowers, a blue wooden fruit compote complimented the flowers and created the organic flowing arrangement out of dogwood foliage, passion vine, green apples, cafe au lait dinnerplate dahlias, fresh cut garden roses, sweet ranunculus, and persimmon fruit. Persimmon fruit was placed loosely around the arrangement and dahlias graced the vintage dinner plates. Blowing in the wind above the table were handmade chandeliers made of vintage wallpapers in blues, and naturals.

The Wedding Pie: Kathryn and Chris

So you’re engaged. You picked a date and are beaming with glee about your upcoming nuptials. You’re culling through thousands of gorgeous, dreamy weddings online and wondering how much would it be something like this? Unless you have close friends and siblings who have recently got married and know how much their weddings cost, you have no idea where to begin setting your budget. This is why we’re beyond excited to start a little section about budgets from real couples who are kind enough to give us the skinny on how they divided their budget. We hope you like it as much as we enjoyed creating it!

Please keep in mind that costs vary in many ways, from the location of the event, vendor’s experience level to the time of the year, month, day of the week and even date if it’s a popular one in demand (like 11.11.11). The chart below is a ball park for Chris + Kathryn’s wedding featured earlier today. To see their wedding, click here.

Our number one tip to setting your budget is to give priority to what’s most important to you (photography, wedding gown, catering, etc), then work your budget around it. For Chris + Kathryn, they wanted organic catering, a conveniently located venue and photography.

How did their budget stack up?

Country Californian Wedding

This wedding has an amazing mix of opposites — indoor and outdoor, rustic and romantic, whimsical and practical — and we couldn’t be more sold on the results. The couple even recruited the help of a brass band who tops off the wedding aesthetic perfectly! Shannen Norman was there to capture the day absolutely perfectly.

From the bride, Kathryn: I envisioned an effortless organic style. True to the location we embraced the lavender fields and natural inspiration that surrounded us by incorporating hints of beige and green into our wedding parties wardrobe. In keeping with an effortless theme (FYI not so effortless) we handcrafted everything from wedding signs, floral arrangements to paper flowers and cupcake towers.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? 1) Here is what I will say… “The dress DOES matter!” It doesn’t have to be an expensive dress but it does have to be the dress that you want. No one looks at or comments on anything more than you and your dress that day. 2) Do not be involved in setting things up the day of your wedding. 3) Allow ample amount of time to get ready and feel ready.
