Ophelia Bridal Photography
No matter how we describe this bridal portrait shoot, we can’t possibly compete with the photographer’s chronicle of her quest to capture the delicacy of timeless beauty and tenacious femininity. Lisa of Ophelia Photography used the immutable inspiration of women such as Grace Kelly and Jane Austen to produce, frankly, some of the most magnificent bridal portraits we’ve seen yet!
From Lisa, the photographer: I wanted to create intimate portraiture of uniquely charming iconic women still relevant today. Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jane Austen are women who taught, by example, what a lady was: a vessel of grace and gravity, ready wit, eldritch charm: women whose greatest discretion was to hide their awareness of splendor. Both Grace and Audrey were effortlessly chic, while Miss Jane Austen penned irreverent knowledge of love, loss and the power of being a women. She was a feminist and I adore all her written work, not to mention the fabulous movies she inspired. The dresses were purchased for $30 to $50 from True Value Vintage in Vancouver and GT Vintage Parlour in Port Alberni. Modern artists were also involved in the shoot… Make up artist Miss Carly Flint, Hair by Jen Sealey of Tangerine Salon, BC Award Winning Florist Karen from A Sea of Bloom, Jewellery by Wild Abandon and Hair Accessories by Sarah Williams of Adorn Atelier. This was a collaborative shoot featuring amazing vendors from Vancouver Island BC. Bringing to life the fantasy that all women have and that Jane Austen so perfectly stated… “A lady’s imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment.”
