Nautical Connecticut Wedding

Something about nautical weddings always makes my heart beat a little bit faster. Newlyweds Shawn and Richard seem to feel the same way, because they adorned their big day with sea-inspired touches, from anchor invitations to rope centerpieces to one of the cutest escort card ideas we’ve ever seen, cards attached to compasses! Thanks to Christina Szczupak for sending this wedding our way.

From the bride, Shawn: Richard and I choose Woodway Beach Club as our venue because of the southern view of the Long Island Sound. We wanted a beachy wedding, but didn’t want to lose the New England feel or the tradition of a wedding in a Church. When Woodway agreed to set up bonfires along the beach, we knew it was the perfect place.

Throughout the entire planning process, we tried to incorporate casual nautical themes. We found a lot of our vendors on Etsy, who were able to incorporate our colors and nautical theme. My favorite part of the planning process was the moment we both (finally) agreed on a wedding band. Once we knew our guests would be dancing, the rest of the pieces just fell into place.

  • Love, love, love this wedding!!! The details are amazing – the compass favors, charm bracelets, the anchor’s tying everything together!!! And that flower girl is adorable!!!

  • Great wedding. Shawn thanks for sharing the link, I love to see how people incorporate our knots into a truly nautical wedding. I’ve never seen those compasses before. That is an astoundingly fun way to give a small wedding favor as well as a nautical way to help your guests find their table. Thanks again for sharing your ideas and congratulations!

  • I Loved everything about this wedding, and it is very similar to how we are setting up ours. We had planned on do compasses for wedding favors. I have looked on line but liked the ones here so much better. Any idea where they were purchased?

  • As Anthony’s best man, I can finally say that he truly got the weinddg cake of his dreams. This cake was truly inspirational because it depicted the fairytale of Anthony and Jennifer . Of all the weinddgs that I have attended over the years, I can honestly say that I’ve never witnessed so many people making it a point to snap a pic of this cake. One glance at this cake, makes you appreciate the time, effort, and incredible detail that was put into this piece of art. All the characters come to life in this cake depicting the world of Super Mario. Amazing job.

  • I was wondering where she got the compasses. I have only been able to find them in bright gold.
