Lakeside Double Wedding

Lakeside Double Wedding

Today we have a first for Ruffled — a double wedding with two lovely sisters, Lauren and Dana. By combining their visions and creative resources, they were able to execute a stunning rustic wedding full of wooden details and touches of every shade of purple. Bryan Rupp Photography caught every one of these details, including the couples’ journey from ceremony to reception via canoes!

From bride Lauren: We wanted our wedding to be personal, romantic, outdoors, and somewhere in the realm of elegant, yet relaxed. We didn’t want a stuffy wedding, and we wanted everyone to have fun!

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? 1) Relax! Think about what you want to remember 10 years from now and focus on that. 2) Get a wedding planner! If you can’t, recruit a friend’s mom who has already helped organize a wedding. 3) Set up a sample table with every detail. I would have changed a few things if I had seen what table legs look like and how the decor stacked up.

From the photographer, Bryan: These sisters got engaged and decided to share their wedding day! They did it beautifully, combining their special moments while maintaining their individuality as couples. Their grandfather made many of the decorations out of wood and the brides handmade most of the details. They took canoes from the ceremony to the reception site. It was a unique and gorgeous double wedding.

  • i love the idea of sharing my special day with my sister … not so much my brother-in-law though ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Such a special day! Both couples look so happy! I love everything about this wedding, but I have to say the canoe shot and the running through the woods shot are my favourite.

  • how special to share such an exciting day with your sister! i imagine there was some struggles in the planning over who wants what and so forth, but the day turned out beautifully! im sure it will be a day fifty years from now that they all look back on as one of the best in their lives.

  • An absolutely gorgeous wedding…and wonderful photography too! My mother & her sister had a double wedding on the family farm in 1946. Double wedding hold a special attraction for me. Congratulations to the newlyweds!!!

  • I love their aisle markers and would love to know how they made them or where they bought them ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hello, I absolutely love this wedding. My fiance and I are wanting to have the burnt wood signs as well for our wedding. We could cut them off trees and then burn the lettering into them but we are concerned about them not being dry for the wedding. We’ve been looking online for unfinished wood slabs/coasters and can’t seem to find any with bark. If anyone would have any ideas or website that could be helpful we would really appreciate it. Thank you so much. Lydia
