Kelsey + Jim's Intimate Wedding

Happy Friday everyone!

Kelsey and Jim had an intimate wedding in Chicago for immediate family only. I am loving Kelsey style – her 1950′s vintage wedding dress would make Betsey Johnson jealous!

We live in Chicago and were looking for ways to have a small casual wedding. After doing some research, I discovered the Chicago Cultural Center offers small civil ceremonies on select Saturdays each month. The cultural center is an incredible building which was originally the Chicago public library. Registering immediately for the limited number of ceremonies performed each Saturday was recommended, and we were fortunate to reserve October 3 at 11:15am for our wedding.

The ceremony was short and sweet. Our family was escorted through the doors of large hall and we stepped up to a small platform where a judge performed the civil service. When each couple left the room, the other waiting couples cheered them on.

After the ceremony we spent some time in downtown Chicago taking pictures. Our families met at my sisters’ house on the north side and prepared food and cake. We then met up with them for the afternoon to relax before our wonderful dinner at The Drawing Room that evening.

We are so thankful to our families, and particularly my sister, who was responsible for my hair and makeup, and our delicious cake. She was amazing. Everyone was. We were also so fortunate to have my uncle there to photograph the event. He did an incredible job.

Thanks so much to Lizz for sending this wedding my way and to Kelsey for sharing your wedding day with us! Check out Kelsey’s unique Etsy shop. It’s lovely.
