Sweet Jewish Vancouver Wedding

Love when brides submit their own weddings! Shauna shared her wedding with us shot by the one and only James Moes. I’ve been a long time fan of nontraditional wedding dress colors and Shauna looked absolutely stunning in her vintage pink wedding dress with a classic updo to top it off. Thank you so much for sharing + wish a lifetime of happiness with your hubby!

From the bride, Shauna: It was an incredibly emotional day. My best friend’s mother passed away suddenly days before the wedding, so within days of each other we were mourning the loss of her mother, and then dancing the hora at my wedding. Her mother was our role model and a true lover of life, and we knew she would want us to celebrate as best we could. The cycle of life was so evident that weekend, and looking back I feel nothing but gratitude. Our wedding was filled with old traditions and new, and was all about love, family, friends, great music, and great food. I feel incredibly lucky that we got to work with so many talented vendors.

  • This was a beautiful day with an absolutely wonderful couple! Shauna was the ideal client–creative, stylish, open-minded and flexible… an utter delight to work with!

I must add that the gorgeous bouquets, boutonnieres, centrepieces and floral arrangements on the chuppah were created by Gloria and her amazing team at The Flower Factory (find them at flowerfactory dot ca).

  • Jenna, thanks for letting us know. We’re adding them in!

  • This is simply gorgeous! Please tell me where the bride got her veil from and the info I need to get it for my November wedding!

  • I’m getting married at the Roundhouse too! I was just wondering where you guys got the string lights – was this with Upright as well? Are there lights at the bottom of the columns too?

    Beautiful wedding! Congrats!

  • That first picture is sooo gorgeous and it continues in the same way, what a beautiful wedding and amazing dress as well

  • Thank you all for your sweet comments! It was a magical day + I was so lucky to work with such great vendors.

I didn’t see this post until now, so sorry for my delay in answering your questions.

@Mechelle the veil was my mother’s, she got it from the Hudson’s Bay Company in the 70’s. I’ve seen others like it on Etsy!
@Jenny, yes all lighting was done by Upright as well. Good luck with your planning!

  • Also, the band was Famous Players Band (find them at famousplayersband dot com). They were out of this world!

  • Who embodies a modern gentleman? I could perhaps roll off a list of movie stars who seem to fit that category. But since I don’t know any movie stars in person, I have no idea if they really are gentleman? Modern yes, but gentlemen? I’m looking for that modern gentleman right now actually. I’d define them as a man who focuses on the person rather then on status, looks, or wardrobe. He finds things that are different about people to be beautiful, instead of strange or ugly. Someone who wears what is comfortable and feels good to them, rather than something trendy (just to fit in). Also, it’s a gentleman who offers his hand to help someone across wet pavement or rough terrain, even if they didn’t ask.Now go find him for me!
