Intimate Austin Garden Wedding

When this wedding from The Nichols landed in our inbox, we immediately felt the love jumping off the screen. Jennifer and Jake married in the middle of the Umlauf Sculpture Garden of Austin, TX amid their dearest friends and family. We’re ga-ga over the bride’s vintage dress found on etsy, the endless array of succulents, and Jennifer’s polka dot tights!

From the bride, Jennifer: We are both attracted to vintage style and subdued natural colors. We wanted our wedding to reflect that, and we aimed to create a relaxed environment that highlighted the beauty of the venue. The natural wood and fiber elements we used were meant to complement our surroundings, while the thrift-found glass elements and paper poms spoke to our love of vintage.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? We got married 6 months after getting engaged. We also waited a couple of months before really getting our plans organized. Our advice would be to plan as early as possible. Make a list and start making phone calls. Having a wedding coordinator was a life-saver, and we were so fortunate that she saw straight into our vision. If you can pull it off financially, invest in a well-suited coordinator. Most elements of our wedding were DIY. We got through each element by reminding each other to breathe and smile.z

  • Her dress is LOVELY!!!! I love the modesty and the neckline, and that it’s SHORT! So pretty! And is she wearing black tom’s?? lol Hilarious!

My favorite idea out of this post is the 50’s crystal glasses with the dessert plants in them. They just LOOK GOOD. Great idea. And the glass is easy to find!

  • I love the great choice of music – I am usually so keen to look at the dress/cake/ decor – I don’t notice the music. Says a lot about a couple – love the personal cello- that must have been great – well done brave Harper.
    Oh and I l o v e the dress !!

  • What an absolutely beautiful wedding! I absolutely LOVE The Nichols work and this wedding is officially one of my favorites of theirs. 🙂

  • All weddings are beautiful but I find that the most beautiful are the simple ones.
