This past April Jen Huang invited to speak at her NYC workshop, talking about our submission process and ground rules for submitting to wedding blogs. Along with a dream team of local New York pros, the photoshoot came out as pretty as it gets. Central Park in spring is gorgeous – perfect inspiration for a wedding. Botanical Wedding Inspiration

There are truly few things we love as much as a collaborative effort between A-list vendors that produces gorgeous results. Photographer Odalys Mendez joined with Alanta-local event designers Virtu Floral and Event Design, The Funky Shack, and Southern Flair to produce this whimsical botanical inspiration shoot, with tablescapes designed by Eva Williams Clark of Belle of the Ball Event Design and some equestrian costars.

From the photographer, Odalys Mendez: This event was organized by Vinewood Weddings and Events in Newnan, GA, a historic Georgia Plantation home built in 1852 featuring formal gardens and a rustic horse barn. The property is simply understated, country elegance. Featured vendors from the Atlanta area put together stunning florals, gowns, and desserts to inspire brides at this refreshing take on a bridal show. Vintage details such as old soda bottles hanging from wooden beams above farmhouse tables, antique china, and equestrian mementos married perfectly with the venue’s ambiance.

Mexican Inspired Florals

Don’t these colors give you a jolt of happiness? These fiesta inspired floral arrangements from Bows and Arrows are absolutely divine, from the bouquet with its loose ribbons to the incredibly unique boutonnieres for the gents! Natalie of nbarrett photography captured this shoot that is simply a goldmine of gorgeous inspiration on any budget. We just can’t help ourselves but obsess over those mini terra cotta pots with bold blooms, paired with confetti and die cut place cards, all designed to perfection.

Hidden Forest Wedding Ideas

Who doesn’t love a beautiful forest inspiration? Petal Pixie threw together the flowers and styling for this incredible woodsy shoot with images from the always-great Alixann Loosle Photography. Don’t miss the behind-the-scenes film from Digital Memorys!

From the stylist, Petal Pixie: The inspiration from this shoot came from the woods and the magic that can come from within their depths. Avenia Bridal provided a beautiful feather tiered skirt designed by Liancarlo. Our male model sported a pant and shirt combo with suspenders, simple and natural. Nicole Cook and Kali Wengreen created an intricate side braid. Kali kept the makeup soft and simple. Alexis June Creative designed the stunning paper suite! I love the soft look of the gold and cream with the touches of navy.

Petal Pixie tied everything together by combining a simple rustic romance with the styling and floral. The flowers where housed in bronzed containers as well as mercury glass. I wanted to use a nontraditional color palette that was rustic as well as soft and romantic. I chose white, soft pink, navy blue, and copper orange blooms. The flowers used were hydrangeas, ranunculus, orchids, roses, and tulips.

RSVP Rentals provided us with the vineyard table along with the bronzed handled silverware and delicate glassware. The cake table was a combination of three stunning butter cream cakes designed by Cake-A-Licious and gourmet donuts provided by Gimme Sugar Catering. Alixann Loosli Photography captured the style and details of this shoot to perfection. Her use of light brought a romantic glow and created magic! She is a dream to work with and her images speak for themselves. Chris Koch with Digital Memorys Video Production was kind enough to be our male model and document our shoot in this stunning video below.

80s Wedding Inspiration

Okay, I can admit it… there’s a little part of me that’s a sucker for all things eighties. Just taking one look at this styled shoot from Soirée Weddings and Events and shot by Cristina G. Photography makes me remember why — how can you not smile looking at the pops of neon, Tetris socks, and “gag me with a spoon” drinks? Pop in a John Hughes movie and sit back to enjoy this shoot!

From the event designer, Soirée Weddings and Events: The 80′s were about peace, free will, lots of color, punk attitude, pop culture, teenage rom-coms and alternative music. Not to mention the outrageous fashion statements as well! I wanted the shoot to be current – with only hints of inspiration from the 80s. We wanted to play on the current runway fashions that we are seeing now, everything from bright neon to color blocking. Today’s designers are taking what we loved about the 80s, but doing it right! We wanted to show today’s bride how to take a modern trend and translate into bridal.

Fleur added some color blocking elements with monochromatic arrangements of purple, hot pink and lime green flowers. Romantic blooms like peonies and lilacs added the perfect touch of bridal, which was juxtaposed with the structured and modern calla lilies used on the rectangle banquet tables.

The menu with a game of MASH on the reverse side to serve as a fun favor and entrainment for the guests. For the bar, coasters that read “Cocktails and Dreams” along with the couple’s names and wedding date and one for the signature cocktail, “Pretty in Pink.” The adorable tape cassette place cards added the just the right amount of 80′s to the table.

We also created a photo booth – equipped with bold 80s props and a DIY paint splatter back drop! The pièce de résistance was the Monique Lhuillier “Bouquet” gown from her Fall 2012 Collection. Some hot pink pumps, edgy accessories and big hair created just the perfect styling to bring the whole look together. The bridesmaids wore Coren Moore and LuluKate dresses in pink, purple and green. Some colorful geometric earrings and bangles to add some flare and their hair and make-up is what really tied it all together! I kept the guys very simple, but added pops of color with their pocket squares and socks. My favorite were the Tetris socks I found for the groom! Just perfect!

Spring Forest Wedding Ideas

This styled shoot sent to us by Rachael Grace Photography is heavy on the woodsy, generous with the purple, and is an endless source of inspiration for the whimsical forest bride within us. With cake design by Frills Cake Shop with florals by Bare Root Flora, one couldn’t miss a thing!

From the photographer, Rachael: Inspired by a couple that wanted to keep things simple with just the two of them we designed an inspiration shoot for spring. Birdcages hung from the trees and filled with soft spring flowers brought a touch of elegance to an otherwise rustic setting. A robins egg blue vintage car added the perfect ending to the shoot. A couple off on the journey together. Just the two of them.

Cinco de Mayo Elopement Inspiration

In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, Rebekah Carey McNall of A & B Creative dreamed up of a gorgeous elopement story in Mexico. These images captured by Delbarr Moradi are just dripping with color and festive flair. The florals created by Crimson Horticulture Rarities complete the vision perfectly like the last piece of this fiesta puzzle.

From the event stylist, Rebekah of A & B Creative: Our inspiration for the design of this shoot came from a love of Mexican scenery and how varied it can be; from dry and arid to lush and bright. We transitioned that adoration into the design of our shoot by using the rich warm wood of our farm tables, antique spools, and a caramel colored hide and juxtaposing it against the bright cigar boxes, patterned plates, peonies, ranunculus, vintage Mexican textiles and with pops of gold and blue.

Doña Tomás was the ideal venue and the sun drenched courtyard is perfect for an intimate elopement. The inside of the restaurant features gorgeous architectural pieces they brought back from Mexico and their tres leche cake was to-die-for. They even have a rich red colored wall named the “Frida” wall!

In fact, the bride’s hair was inspired by Frida Kahlo’s classic band of flowers, but I wanted to make it feel more modern and unique. Together with Yesenia and Crimson Hort we designed a band of flowers for the nape of the bride’s neck, beneath her bun, to bring the look into a new era.

Crimson Horticulture Rarities helped us to continue our juxtaposed look by designing the florals with oranges and perfectly bright blooms, tucked into brightly colored cigar boxes, against the muted tones of the airplants, antlers and antique spools.

The bride’s different attire looks were again showing the variations of the theme. First, a rich blue lace top over a silk sheath gown with pops of orange and pink coming from her shoes, display the colors of a sunset in the mountains. A bright pink chiffon top with floral detailing reflected in the petal accents of her gown and the flowers in her hair, show the warm hue you can imagine in the valleys. Lastly, her cream colored dress and vintage Mexican belt show an arid desert palette.

Eco-Friendly Wedding Inspiration

Nothing beats a sophisticated color palette mixed with texture with a nod to Mother Nature. When Esther of Esther Sun Photography told us she and a group of California pros gathered for an inspiration shoot to celebrate Earth Day, we knew it was going to be something beautiful. As an added bonus, Sara Holland of At Your Door Events, is here to share with us 5 Eco-Chic wedding planning tips:

1. Location: Reduce your carbon footprint by selecting a venue with an on-sight ceremony space. Not only isn’t good for the Earth, but it saves you on the cost of hiring transportation for you and the wedding party!

2. Invitations: Select an Earth friendly recycled paper or plantable paper. Plantable papers have tiny little flower seeds embedded in the paper fibers, guests can plant the paper in the ground and flowers will grow!

3. Rings: Select environmentally conscious metals. Ask your jeweler about rings made of recycled metals. OR — collect jewelry from family and have it melted down and crafted into your own personal ring design.

4. Bridal Gown: Consider using vintage or taking your mothers wedding dress and having a tailor transform it into something unique for you!

5. Floral: Cut flowers are not green. Considering centerpieces such as terrariums! These are living, breathing eco-system contained in a glass jar. As a grouping on a table they make a glamorously green center piece AND a wonderful keepsake for guests. For your bridal bouquet, add succulents. The stems of succulents are actually root systems. After your wedding, you can take the succulents and plant them. The succulent will thrive and you will be able to keep a living memento of your wedding day!
