Industrial Organic Wedding Inspiration
I’m extra excited to share today’s shoot with you all. Bonnie Sen Creative Photography wanted to create a wedding shoot that approached decor and design elements from a more typically masculine point of view, and the result is even more gorgeous than you’d expect. Flowers from Studio DBI and the use of Sonoma Restaurant and Winebar for the venue make this inspiration shoot a home run.
From the photographer, Bonnie: The lavishness of masculine detailing can be overlooked in wedding design. Inspired by found objects like watch gears, trinket tools, keys, and vintage liquor bottles, we sought to tailor this for a groom-friendly look. Featuring a bounty of gentlemen’s goods hailing from the he-chic haberdashery, Oakleaf and Acorn, these details complement the shoot design while standing out among the usual plethora of ladies’ gown, shoe, and jewelry pieces typically featured in weddings.
Yet not to discount the indulgence of a stunning bridal look, we chose this untraditional nude under-layer gown with dazzling beading. Her bouquet and his boutonniere feature eucalyptus and rosemary. The tiny metal broach tucked among the bouquet and the chain wrapping (instead of traditional ribbon) added industrial influence. Her hair piece was handmade from dried pods and repurposed vintage necklace chains.
Situated in one of DC’s finest eateries, an intimate reception set-up was key. We also wanted to highlight the spirits renaissance a groom is likely keen to and would want to incorporate into this special day. The cocktail bar features custom crafted libations: a whiskey, chai, and black walnut bitters drink for him and a gin, cran/ginger/rosemary mix with lemon and cointreau drink for her. The sweetheart table features layered fresh rosemary and wheat (playing on the culinary context) with tufts of moss over sophisticated gold and white place settings with mixed metallics to add dimension. The sweetheart table backdrop is an antique window frame with a eucalyptus and rosemary pattern. The handmade chandelier was a construction of chains with a bike rim (found on the streets of DC) to suspend moss filled globes.
