Homemade Ranch Wedding

When Ashley and Kellen of Weeno Photography sent this wedding over, we were immediately smitten with the bride, Rachel’s, style! Her taste in wedding decor proved to be just as spectacular, creating a relaxed atmosphere for the couple’s wedding guests with a local band Poor Man’s Poison and the helping hands of many a family member.

From the photographers, Ashley and Kellen: John and Rachel got married mid October on an estate in central valley California. They tied the knot under a huge oak tree and had the reception surrounded by walnut orchards. They proceeded to have the live music and dancing in the barn! Every last detail of this wedding was thoroughly thought out by the bride. She is a very stylish bride with good taste and wanted that to come out in the wedding. Therefore, making their wedding perfect for each of their personalities.

Rachel and her family did everything for their wedding. Her mom and her found old tin coffee cans filled them with flowers and made centerpieces. For the numbers on the tables she got old books from a estate sale nearby and her dad bolted old address numbers to them. Each of the plates for the reception was bought at a thrift store where John and Rachel first met while working there!!

It was a dry wedding, so instead of beer they had soda in bottles! It was a huge hit, especially with the striped straws! The bride and groom also set up their own little “love bird” table. They bought the Mr & Mrs letters from and antique store and hung them, the chairs were in her apartment previously but she knew she wanted to use them for the wedding.

The ceremony was lined with signs that she and her parents painted with the date, their names, and little sayings from the actual ceremony. A beautiful touch to making a big ceremony site feel a little more intimate. Her father walked her down the aisle to her groom and her grandpa. Her grandpa said a few words, and then her father went on to marry them. Her brother is a musician so he played during the communion keeping it a family affair.

As for the reception they hired a local pizza place to bring a mobile wood burning pizza oven and make TONS AND TONS of pizza! And for the dancing, they hired a local bluegrass band, Poor Mans Poison to play in the barn. It was a HUGE hit, and the everyone danced the night away!

  • i love the idea of soda (in bottles) and pizza!! so cute. this bride is stunning in her lovely gown and beautiful half sleeve. sometimes when you see a bride with tattoos it takes away from the elegance of her dress but her style, hair, dress just makes it work really well. and the groom and groomsmen look awesome too!

  • I was blessed to be at this wedding… Vintage quirky elegance… The entire night was amazing and bravo to Ashley and kellen to capture each moment so beautifully….

  • Thank you for featuring our wedding! It was the most incredible and FUNNEST day of my life. My husband John and I are so excited that others can enjoy our pictures from the awesome WeenoPhotography. Thanks!! xoxo -the inspired bride

  • I adore this wedding. Love the lighting and the half sleeve combined withe vintage/country feel. Gorgeous wedding.

  • you can see all of the love and joy that was shared that day. what an adorable wedding!

  • Love the design of the invitations! Did the bride design those herself too? I’m trying to muster the confidence to do something like that myself, but not sure how to connect with printers/etc. to print my design – any tips?!

  • Amazing job Kellen and Ash! You’re both so talented!!

  • These photos are delightful! They fit perfectly wih their wedding style

  • So GORGEOUS!!! What a lovely wedding and adorable couple. Such wonderful images! And Im in love with those shoes!

  • In reply to “GW”: the invitations were the most difficult part of the wedding for me. I LOVE paper; and I’m poor. I pinned every sweet letterpress $10 per invite I could find, but knew I could never afford that with the 300+ invites I needed! So I designed them on my super lame “Pages” program on my Mac, which took ages, but with the help of a sweet stamp and kraft paper they turned out to be just what I wanted. I would suggest finding out what style of Invitation fits you and your wedding or event best because, as my photographer Ashley says “This is the first aspect of your wedding they will see, it sets the tone”. It is WORTH it to spend money on the invites. If you cant, get a good printer and make some yourself. The time you put into it is worth it. There are wonderful homemade invites on Ruffled. Just make a decision and stick with it. I hope this helps :). -Rachel

  • Thank you so much Rachel for your reply!!! You have definitely inspired me!!! 🙂

  • In LOVE with this wedding! Everything about it is just gorgeous.

Any info on the venue?! I live in Fresno I would love to get married here but I can’t seem to find any solid information on them. I can’t believe this cute venue is just a 40 minute drive!
