Historic Pabst Brewery Wedding

This wedding has such a special place in my heart, I can’t even pick just one favorite element about it. Between the utterly unique venue pick (Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery), the bride’s nontraditional patterned wedding gown from BHLDN, and the relaxed aura, it’s impossible for me to choose. Thank you Photos by Jenna Leigh for sharing your photos with us!

From the bride, Jourdan: The idea of having a traditional wedding did not resonate with Jeff and me – no church, no tux, no big white dress, no veil, no cake. Even though it took us a while to figure out what we wanted our wedding to be, determining what we definitely didn’t want made the planning process pretty simple. The only important rule we followed was that our wedding needed to feel like us – relaxed, informal, genuine, colorful, funny, and full of good food, good drinks and dancing.

We didn’t have a specific “theme,” but I’d describe our wedding as relaxed, colorful, homemade and a little bohemian. We DIYed a lot for our wedding: Jeff and I hand-stamped our save-the-dates w/ a custom stamp from Antiquaria, we also designed, printed, assembled and did all the calligraphy for our invitations, I hand-made all our corsages, boutonnieres and my flower crown (using artificial flowers), we designed and printed our programs, we thrifted, made and assembled our centerpieces and table-runners, I made a streamer backdrop, but sadly it was FAR too windy on our wedding day to use it, we made our place cards, I wrote our ceremony.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t feel like you need to plan your wedding a certain way just because “that’s how it’s done.” Liberating yourself from wedding traditions actually makes the planning process a lot easier. You free yourself up from expectations about how something “should be,” which means you can instead focus on how you want your wedding to be. Focus on how you want the day to feel for you and for your guests. Themes and color palettes will then fall in line. Do everything as far in advance as possible so that you’re less burdened by to-dos the closer you get to the wedding.
