Gold, Black & White Baby Shower

Gold, Black & White Baby Shower

A few months ago, I had my baby shower hosted by my in-laws while we were visiting Michigan for the holidays. Since it was the end of December, we went for a NYE inspired shower, with a color palette that would be perfect for a bridal shower or a wedding as well: black, white and gold. A gender neutral palette perfect for a coed shower.

We had a candy buffet table for favors, with all white M&Ms, Champagne Bubbles, Jordan Almonds and Pearl Dots from Temptation Candy. We used glassine bags and stickers from Minted for guests to take them home in. The candy jars and novelty milk bottles are from Koyal Wholesale.

The flowers were one of my favorite things! Fifty Flowers sent us flowers a few days before the shower so the blooms could adapt and open. We got 5 bunches of seeded eucalyptus, one pack of Centerpiece with Height Combo and a small order of Polar Star White Rose. This was plenty for 10 tables so we had extras for a large arrangement for the cake table. If you’re DIYing your own flowers, open the boxes and place the flowers in buckets with water in a cool place out of the sun. We stored them in the basement for about 3 days till the morning of the shower, this was enough time to let the flower buds open. The morning before the shower, my mother-in-law and I started arranging them in these glasses from Ikea that mimicked our origami backdrop. Creating these centerpieces were so much fun! We randomly picked a mix of each flower and filler, and we ended up with a unique arrangement for each table.

The flowers in these arrangements are ranunculus, roses, snapdragons, white freesia and tulips, seeded eucalyptus, and bells of Ireland were used in the tall arrangement on the cake + sweets table.

  • Love that gold backdrop! You had mentioned that you’d post a tutorial, but I’m having trouble finding it. Were you ever able to do that or do you have a link to another tutorial that you used?

  • I love everything about it. Please show me how to do the Gold Backdrop. Thanks!
