For us, it was absolute love at first sight when we saw this wedding on The Conservatorie’s website. This celebration has all the markings of a true Southern affair — the Spanish moss-infused trees, the perfect warm climate, and the ultimate intimate celebration between old friends and family. We just love the addition of woodsy elements, such as the vases wrapped in bark and the tree trunk stands. Make sure you check out all images in the gallery!
From Amy of The Conservatorie: Danielle, a display coordinator for Anthropologie and her husband Luke, a graphic designer, wanted to put their own touches on many aspects of their wedding. Some ways included designing their own invitations, cooking the food, and using found objects and family heirlooms as key elements. Luke’s design company is called Dandy Hand. They were able to screen print their own invitations, response cards and recommended attire cards. The cuisine consisted of build your own sandwiches accompanied by Luke’s “famous” potato salad among other things.
Danielle’s Grandmother is a collector of sorts, so Danielle was able to use some of her old wooden cheese boxes in the centerpieces (her great grandfather collected them when he worked for the Railroad). She also provided old hat pins to put in the bouquets and a necklace that Danielle wore with her J. Crew dress. All the girls were told to “buy something sweet” and “to not be afraid of pattern” and to also wear their favorite riding boots.
Danielle’s aunt made the frames you see hanging from the trees. Their ceremony was tucked underneath an umbrella of live oak trees (the prized beauties of the south). They bought the pews themselves to create a intimate area in the large space they had.
All in all they gave us, the florist, a ton of creative freedom, simply looking to mix rustic masculinity with dainty feminine items. We loved it!
