Texas Gemstone Wedding

“Geometric meets gemstones” is at the heart of this Texas wedding from Rachel Whyte. A focus on whimsy while still maintaining a classic sensibility is just what Leslie and Ryan were after, and it’s certainly what they found. We couldn’t help but fall in love with their style and every single detail in this wedding to remember!

From the bride, Leslie: The concept I had from the very beginning was “a classy confection.” My personality and personal style is very much a mixture of well put-together and “buttoned-up” with eclectic and free-spirited flair. You could call it a marriage of Anthropologie and J. Crew 🙂 Also, I have always been a lover of rich color, but have recently fallen in love with the classy look of white and gold. I realized I didn’t want to sacrifice either of these concepts, so I decided to marry the two and create a look that made classy look vibrant and make eclectic look classy.

My colors were essentially a base of white and gold, with “all colors” mixed in. Specifically, some of the main colors I used were poppy red, cream/white, marigold, peach, plum, wine, and gold. The main DIY projects I did were: tissue paper poms [taken to the next level :)], tissue paper tassel garlands, handmade confetti, geronimo balloons, painted/dipped birch trunks & glass vases, rainbow quartz chunks.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Pick the top 3-5 things you most care about and put your time, money, and energy into those. I am a perfectionist, but it is okay for not every little detail to be perfect. Be confident that the choices you make are the rights ones. Pick the ideas that you truly love. It is your wedding, advice is great, but you want it to be a true reflection of you!

From the photographer, Rachel Whyte: This wedding was all inspired and dreamed up by the bride herself. (It was executed by her and her talented friends). Leslie is a personal friend of mine with incredible taste and a gift for making designs come to life. The florals, invitation suite/other paper goods, and bride’s hairpiece and rings were also all designed by local friends. The colorful, gemstone theme can be seen throughout the entire wedding: the invitation suite, wedding programs, escort cards, centerpieces and cake. Some details that I personally loved were the bride’s red shoes, the gemstone-like designs made out of string in some of the centerpieces, the flower girl attire, and the AMAZING handmade, paper flower backdrop.
