Industrial Emerald Wedding Inspiration

We’re brimming with excitement about today’s shoot from Tory Williams and Celadon & Celery! Not only is it filled with creative ideas, gorgeous flowers, and pops of emerald (hello Pantone Color of 2013), but it looks as though it came straight out of an Anthropologie catalog. And how incredibly gorgeous is the venue, the soon-to-reopen 5 Beekman St. in Manhattan?

From Bess Wyrick of Celadon & Celery: The decaying Victorian-style 19th century building is a magical, frozen-in-time interior with full height atrium and skylight, embellished with detailed cast-iron railings and ceilings. Its beyond words and history and character.

When I stepped into the space for the first time last fall I was mesmerized by the decaying beauty and raw still life it had. I imagined this palace as an open market of flowers, foods, tailors, and more. I wanted to create a simple but flavorful palette for the shoot which was inspired by Pantone’s color of the year, emerald. The space needs very little from any stylist or designer so I wanted to give the walls the chance to speak against the bright Vera Wang emerald dress and watermelon colored poppies. The gold hair accessories by Hushed Commotion were articulate in the space against the antique emerald rings.

A princess in a castle with no prince and a table set for her seven invisible friends was the inspiration for the handmade table setting. Marjorie Lee Woo, a milliner, who is the chair of visual merchandising at LIM university, collaborated with us on our shoot by preparing the calligraphy paper table linen.

This flowers pinkish and red tones played well with palace’s neutral tones, it made the poppies pop and the saturated emerald dress did wonders to complement the decaying space. The palace was breathing and the Spanish moss and lichen branches around the window panes were timeless and elegant. Creating unusual elements in a space that is unusual itself brought the Dr. Seuss out in our designs with Jurassic like flowers, the protea, and wild poppies. Mixing textured elements with cool tones and stunning architecture made this photo shoot unusually epic.
