Debonair Wedding at The Wythe Hotel

This stylish wedding at Brooklyn’s brilliantly modern Wythe Hotel is calling our name, lovely readers. Amber Gress and Tinsel & Twine contributed majorly to one heck of a party wedding for Kurt and Kyle, a truly cosmopolitan couple who knows how to have fun. There are TONS of great details and goodies to share here, so take some time to soak it all in!

From the grooms, Kurt and Kyle: We met while studying abroad in Prague in the Fall of 2009. Kyle proposed in December 2013 at St Mark’s Church in the East Village (our meet up spot during college). We didn’t notice until later that Kyle proposed right above an astrological compass cemented in the square. The astrology theme tied reminded us of the famous astrological clock in Prague and it’s what ultimately led us to our design motif of constellations/stars/etc.

When deciding the look and feel of our wedding, one word came to mind: Chic. We wanted a neutral color palette that felt traditional and romantic, but as a juxtaposition to The Wythe’s amazing industrial details like exposed brick, raw air ducts, and graffit’d walls. Tinsel & Twine paired loose wild flowers with really cool, unique details like gold and glass geometric shapes as a nod to our shared love of Czech Cubism. Besides the food and the music and the decorations (!!!) one of the biggest hits of the night was our custom photobooth backdrop: a custom step-and-repeat with our wedding logo and an illustrated portrait of our dog, Butter, lovingly and skillfully created by Meghan of And Here We Are. Guests loved it. We literally had to drag people out at points in the night.

Wedding Music:
Processional: “Video Games,” Lana del Rey (instrumental)
Recessional: “Bad Romance,” Lady Gaga

From the event designer, Erica of Tinsel & Twine: Our first meeting with Kurt & Kyle began with a bottle of rose and ended with an in-depth talk about astrology signs. It was love at first Air Sign. We had a blast working with an A-team vendor line-up. We’re seeing a big trend towards cocktail style weddings like Kurt & Kyle’s. We love this departure from the traditional wedding format because it allows guests to let loose and celebrate from start to finish. It feels very Now, and very New York. Traditional with a twist.
