Australian Country Carnival Wedding

We loved this wedding the minute it landed in our inbox, and were giddy with delight when we saw that bride Elizabeth frequented Ruffled when planning her own wedding day! Make sure you take a gander at all the incredible images from Matt & Katie, because you’re definitely not going to want to miss one of our absolute favorite first looks yet. Oh, and did we mention the bride’s Johanna Johnson wedding gown? Breathtaking.

From the bride, Elizabeth: Dave and I were married last October, atop a beautiful meadow on my parent’s farm. We were living in the city, and thought a country wedding seemed relaxed and a lot of fun, we wanted our guests to have as much fun as we did, so tried to create an atmosphere of joy and excitement.

We had a little bit of a recurring theme with snow globes. When we were dating the first time Dave had to go away without me, he brought me back a snow globe. A lot of our stationery featured a picture I drew of Dave and I in a snow globe, so now we’d always be together. Our wedding featured lots of DIY. Dave and I worked together on lots of projects in the months leading up to the wedding, and my parents and I collected lots of vintage finds (plates, vases, suitcases, picture frames, rugs) that added to the day.

We couldn’t have had better photographers. Matt and Katie are such wonderful people, they felt like part of the family. They asked us if we wanted to have a ‘first look’ before our wedding, so we got to chat and have a few photos before the ceremony. It was such a great idea. We loved being able to just see each other and just enjoy that the day was all about our love for each other.
