Modern Wedding Ideas with Driftwood Details

Wedding Design

Driftwood is one of those elements you don’t necessarily expect to see in wedding decorations, but when you do, it takes your breath away. Two of a Kind, Tory Williams, and Brita Olsen Creative recently worked together to bring us this styled wedding shoot full of soft pink flowers, ivory tones, and yes, driftwood centerpieces complemented by a birchwood chuppah for the ceremony. Everything comes together for a perfectly modern event with just enough romance!

From the decor rentals director, Two of a Kind: This inspirational shoot took place in the heart of Manhattan, New York at the prestigious 583 Park which has recently been restored and made available for private events. We could think of no better place to host this shoot! Even though it was a cold, brisk day in New York City our team of vendors stayed strong while mainly focusing on indoor scenes such as a styled ceremony table, a ceremony backdrop while also getting multiple outdoor bride/groom photos.

Our elegant bride wore two dresses from Nearly Newlywed which included a classic Monique Lhullier gown and a head-to-toe sequined Marc Jacobs dress! We love when the groom does a suit change too, which is why we featured two perfectly tailored suits by Suitable which had him looking dapper all throughout the evening. A birchwood Chuppah by Two of a Kind Rentals covered in olive branches made for a beautiful white winter ceremony backdrop. Other rental pieces seen in this shoot include natural grapewood branches placed as table centerpieces and champagne sequin tablecloths matching our gilded cakes. Also, large oversized chalkboards are scattered through the shoot with hand scripted details such as menu and dinner options. The color scheme of choice for this shoot included muted greens and soft whites which flowed strong not only in the prop rentals, but also in the flowers, bride’s dresses and custom Suitable suits.

We sprinkled our bride’s hair with a handful of paper whites while also adding them to our romantic table centerpieces that decked the venue halls. A unique bouquet of roses, chrysanthemum and paper whites by Swell botanics made for a beautiful bouquet. Personal wedding cakes by Made in Heaven Cakes serve as place cards and would be a welcome treat at any winter wedding!

Country Meets Bohemian Wedding in Nashville

Bohemian Weddings

Sometimes we get weddings I catch myself staring at over and over again, and today’s from High Five For Love Photography is a prime example. Shaylee and Ryan had a wedding that perfectly fused bohemian and rustic style, for a look that’s as timeless as it is au courant. Let’s jump in!

From the photographer, Chrissy of High Five For Love Photography: Shaylee and Ryan are our people, and this wedding was a freakin’ blast. We fell in love with them instantly when we met, and their engagement session goes down as one of our favorites ever. We’re so thrilled to add their wedding to that list, as well. The details were incredible — gigantic pink and gold balloons, the loveliest bouquets and succulent boutonnieres, gold foil temporary tattoos, the sweetest ring bearer, and DIY goodness all over the place.

The moves on the dance floor were so fresh — just wait ’til you get to the reception! Shaylee + Ryan got down to Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” for their first dance and rapped their way through the entire evening. Stank-faces galore. Of course one of our favorite things about the day were the communal prayers that were so sacred, so full of genuine love, and so empowering for this couple starting their new life together. From start to finish, this wedding was pure joy to capture. So, so honored to do it.

Whimsical Portland Brunch Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

June Lion

I love weddings, and I love brunch just as much – so a day that combines the two is a sure winner in my book. June Lion captured this oh-so-Portland wedding, complete with flowers and an enviable floral hair accessory from Punch Portland. Keep reading for some stellar advice from the bride for de-stressing before your wedding day arrives!

From the bride, Ana: We really wanted something laid-back and low maintenance. We arrived at a brunch wedding thinking that this would be the most easy breezy – and hey, we love brunch! As for the style we wanted to go with a vintage rustic feel.

Our venue just so happened to be out favorite music venue in town, Mississippi Studios which has a really vintage flair. Luckily our venue laid the groundwork down for us. We did have a color pallet. We originally had planned to marry in the fall and took on a heavy fall feeling with brunt oranges, greens, yellows, brown, and red. which ended up being out major accent color for a lot of our stuff. We moved the date into summer but decided that these colors were still something we loved – so we stuck with it. Our wedding does have a DIY feel to it but unfortunately for me I’m not the most crafty person. The bulk of that went to our decorator/florists at Punch Portland. They’re magic workers! The one DIY project that I took on was the party favors… but that was simple.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Make it about you! I didn’t have brides maids because I just didn’t want that extra layer of planning and potential stress – my friends are spread out around the country. My sister ordained by the powers of the internet so she could officiate the wedding. It was a fun way for her to be a special part of our big day. It’s so easy for me now to say “Don’t stress yourself out, it’s your day. Enjoy!” But I was a nervous wreck. When you’re in the thick of it just take a deep breath and try to remember that its about you and the love of your life, it’s fun! I also got really into Barre 3 classes 3 months before the wedding. It’s a mix of yoga, ballets and ballet. Did it help me look great in my wedding dress? You betcha. But the real benefit was that it helped me feel more balanced and grounded. Having that time set apart each day to get your mind-body connection can make such a difference when you have this extra stressor in your life. I cannot stress what a big help this was.

Concertina Press

Sailboats, waves, octopus and jellyfish are just a few of the amazing seaworthy designs featured in Concertina Press’s line of vintage inspired nautical wedding invitations and stationery.

“Ruth is an exceptional artist and artisan! She was very prompt to stay in communication with me throughout my ordering process. She worked with me to make sure that all my needs were met exactly. It was so comforting to work with her through the stressful process of ordering the perfect wedding invitations! I absolutely LOVE the way her products turned out, and cannot wait to send them to all my guests! Thank you SO MUCH Ruth, your kindness and professionalism have helped me more than you know!” ” – Emily D.

After living in the small town of Woods Hole on Cape Cod for nearly 11 years, Ruth, the owner and designer of Concertina Press, moved down to the sunny East coast of Florida to be closer to family. Her Cape Cod map save the date is still widely popular with couples getting married on the Cape, along with the matching wedding invitation. Since moving south she’s added more tropical designs including seahorses, sand dollars and waves.

Ruth takes pride in customer service, and making the online ordering process as easy as possible while still remaining personalized. You can purchase samples of any of her invitations online, or contact her directly with any questions or for a quote.
