Elegant Orange County Wedding

Elegant Weddings

Today’s wedding from Valentina Glidden Photography has a perfect mix of various styles – some vintage, some rustic, and some pure elegance. Of course, there’s also a bit of serious romance going on thanks to lush arrangements from Bella Bloom Floral Designs! Read on for more about Gwendy and David’s timeless wedding day:

From the bride, Gwendy: We envisioned our wedding like all couples do, magical. Our dream wedding was to be a blend of rustic touches and romantic elegance. Most importantly we wanted to be able to reflect our personalities and love for each other. At the end it was all about bringing a little part of David and me into our wedding. We met in architecture class our Freshmen year in college, creating and designing has always brought us together. Being able to take part in the creation of our dream wedding only made it that much more special. As a bride to be it meant so much for my future husband to be so involved in all the wedding details. Dancing the night away in a candle lit garden set the perfect mood to the start of our new life.

Some adjectives that can describe are wedding are vintage, romantic, intimate, & rustic. We choose very subtle colors like mint, rose, and ivory to soften the look of wood. We had so many DIY projects! David made our vases for the center pieces, from birch bark. The candles placed through out the tables were made from small tree logs and branches. We made all of our wedding signs used in the reception and the “here comes the bride” sign for my little brother from pallets that we white washed then used a wood burner to write on them. The little mason jar leather heart tags with our initials were made by his little brother, then put together by us. We a also made the rose petal aisle runner for church the boutonnieres, and bridesmaids bouquets. The fans from church were painted and made by us as well. The invitations were hand made by us with help from his brother. David painted the oil lanterns to match with our color scheme. We gathered the baskets for our candy table, the sweets and polvorones were brought from Chihuahua, Mexico and baked by his aunts. Our family is so supportive and they all contributed to bring it all together.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? If they have any ideas for DIY I would encourage them to not hold back. It is so rewarding and special to be able to say you did it.

Wedding Music:
Festive music is part of our heritage and in a Mexican wedding celebration the Mariachi and Band should never be left out. The mariachi played or processional song as well as our first dance song “Si nos dejan” which has always been our special song.

Lavender Farm Elopement Shoot

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Hunter Photographic

Call me a romantic, but I simply can’t imagine a dreamier locale for a wedding than a lavender field. I think it’s because it reminds me of days in Provence, and what could be more romantic than that? Hunter Photographic captured this styled shoot on film, while Baci Designer designed the affair and Molly Taylor Designs took the reins on the stunning floral styling.

From the stylist, Baci Designer: Captured on film by Hunter Harrison of Hunter Photographic, this airy and feminine elopement shoot at DayBreak Lavender Farm was the creation of Amanda Cursaro of Baci Designer. The peak of lavender season was the perfect setting for this shoot’s lavender, sage, burlap and grey palette. Amanda created an announcement invitation donning a miniature lavender bouquet in lieu of a traditional suite. The boxed invitation was filled with lavender buds and topped with vintage postage. The ceremony spot was decorated with Hydrangeas, Roses, Clematis, Hanging Amaranthus, Queen Anne’s Lace and Eucalyptus in crates from Borrow Rentals. Bob Javorsky of Our Wedding Officiant led the service.

Outfitted by Something White Bridal Boutique, the bride wore the Abingdon Square Gown by Lela Rose and the bridesmaid wore Ivy & Aster’s Penny Dress. Both ladies sported jewelry from the Honey Rose & K Oh Deer Collection. Molly Taylor Designs created the bridal bouquet with Deer Antler, Hopps, Snow on the Mountain, Scabiosa Pods, Lavender and White Veronica. The bridal head wreath was designed with Grapevine Wreath, Burgundy Dahlia, White Scabiosa, Lavender, Rosemary and Eucalyptus. The men’s boutonnieres were created using Lavender and Scabiosa Pods wrapped with twine. Hair and makeup were provided by MKleinman Artisty and Studio H.

The reclaimed wood table was covered with burlap and lace then topped with a burlap runner and an assortment of small floral arrangements. Each place setting was accompanied by a kraft-roll dinner menu and a hand-painted watercolor place card. The Lemon-Lavender Elopement Mini Cake Favors by Hummingbird Bakery were the perfect finishing touch. The desserts displayed in the primitive white cupboard were a lovely highlight. The Orange Revelry Cake – an orange almond cake with cream made with fresh squeezed oranges and fluffs of Italian meringue – truly shined.

Wedding Inspiration Shoot with Drama and Romance

Wedding Design

When it comes to dramatic weddings, there are few venues more fitting than Long Island City’s The Foundry. Some of New York’s finest, including Amber Gress, All Who Wander Event Design, and Days of May, came together to design this brilliant styled shoot heavy on deep red tones and a stylish couple complete with a groom in a velvet jacket and a bride in a black jumpsuit with a transparent skirt overlay. Love, love, love.

From the event designer, Nicole of All Who Wander: When All Who Wander designed this shoot we set out to break the winter wedding norms, and The Foundry was the perfect back drop for the black, deep red, and gold color palette. The beautiful red of the sofa from Patina Vintage anchored the entire design and inspired us to put our “groom” in velvet as well. Our goal was to show that winter weddings can be both edgy and chic and that they don’t have to rely on a typical winter theme. Sheepskin chair throws create warmth in the reception space and brighten up the whole table, creating an intimate feeling paired with Days of May’s floral runner. We want to inspire couples not to be afraid of deeper, more rich colors for anything from a dress or suit to decor and rentals.

From the photographer, Amber Gress: This modern romance combines edge with a fashion forward statement piece from the designers of Synderela. This inspiration story is truly for the New York bride that knows, black is always in, and that a jumpsuit is the ultimate way to be glamorous yet relaxed on her big day. The removable/sheer skirt combines a sense of the glamorous with the carefree attitude of a bride who knows how to have fun on her big day alongside her one and only. The groom’s deep red jacket is his own statement piece that complements the beauty by his side in an equally relaxed look that allows his bride to shine. Everything from the florals, to the decor, and especially the venue really reflect the concept of the this shoot, and we couldn’t be happier to work with The Foundry as the perfect backdrop for this bride and groom.
