DIY Mount Guilan Wedding

Brides Tracy and Karina wanted their big day to be quirky and laid back, and they worked closely with everyone around them to achieve just that. Their Mount Guilan venue provided a beautiful backdrop, while they took care of the awesome DIY elements. Pops of pink were present in more ways than one, and the fab paper goods were designed by Tracy herself. Photographer Khaki Bedford was kind enough to share her amazing photos!

From the bride, Tracy: We wanted to design our wedding to match our personalities – quirky but laid back. Sweet, unique, breezy. Our color scheme was white and neutrals with accents of blush and magenta. Many elements of our wedding were DIY. We worked very closely with the florists and caterers to achieve the colors, textures, and scents that best suited us and our lifestyle, which is (as above) quirky but laid back. I designed and printed all of the invitations, programs, menus, and matches (I’m an artist and designer, see my work here. I also made the photo board and curated all of the guest table elements. We had our friends be the emcee, the DJ’s, and the officiant.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Plan as much as you can as early as you can. The stress of getting married (family craziness, friend craziness, partner craziness) is quite a lot to take on (especially if you’re working full time and have side projects), and knowing that your big ticket items (venue, caterer, dress or suit, invitations) are done will bring you a great sense of relief. Don’t be afraid to take projects on yourself (trust your eye and your instinct!) but always ask for help – share the responsibilities with your partner as much as possible and work to your strengths.
