Del Mar Powerhouse Wedding

I’m constantly wowed by how much influence a color palette has over the feeling of a wedding day, and the bright and pastel tones in Jen and Kombiz’s wedding definitely exudes the perfect relaxed, beach-y vibe to go with their California wedding. Jenny Minns of Luxe Events and Root 75 worked their magic with design and flowers, while She Wanders Photography captured it all for us to share!

From the photographer, Suzanne of She Wanders Photography: Jen and Kombiz are a power-couple who crafted an event as bright and sweet as they are. Despite meeting in New York City and living in D.C., they chose to have a destination wedding at the place they fell in love: San Diego, CA. These two do-gooders (she in cancer research, he in education) strove to create a wedding that combined their love of food and drink, simplicity and intimacy.

Their palette consisted of sherbert colors -peach, yellow, mint, and coral with the bride’s and groom’s parties dressed in gray. The ceremony was officiated by a family friend, and was full of laughter and tears. Hanging picture frames were woven with flowers against the beautiful Pacific Ocean and provided the perfect backdrop for such a special occasion.

For the reception, their mixologist friends created custom drinks, including the Jen Daisy. The linens and napkins were made by Kombiz’s mother with white, mint, and gray fabrics. Guests relaxed in a gazebo lounge area with benches, throw pillows, and bistro lights while music played. It provided the perfect relaxed atmosphere for casual conversation among members of a new, unified family.

In addition to taking home their beloved, Jen and Kombiz planned to have mementos of their special day. Every wedding guest was asked to sign a poster of their vows, which will hang in their home as a reminder of their everlasting love. Brightly Designed created a beautiful poster not unlike a ketubah. And each year on their anniversary, Jen and Kombiz will open their anniversary wine box and enjoy the concealed bottle and love letters inside. The box is a repurposed jewelry box made by Jen’s late grandfather. Jen and Kombiz created a colorful, joyous day for all their guests to enjoy.
