Cupcakes-
We brought a bit of Somerville. Our friend picked up our cupcakes from Kickass Cupcakes! We chose three delicious flavors and the price was very reasonable.

My absolute favorite thing we chose to do was the table numbers for our centerpieces. We designed dust jackets using photos we had taken on vacations together. We asked friends and family to write in the books. They wrote and drew some wonderful things. Having them at the tables allowed people to spend some time with them and give them something to do when they weren’t eating, drinking talking or dancing. We now have these wonderful little time-capsules from our reception that we are keeping along with our photos.

There is so much cuteness in this last image. Cara’s wedding dress converts into a short dress, perfect for dancing, and Andrew’s niece is wearing a kilt made from the same tartan as his tie. Adorable to say the least.

Venues
Andrew is from Vermont. His parents have lived there for thirty years. When we decided to get married in the church he grew up attending, it just made sense. Andrew’s parents are best friends with the Reverend and Deacons in the church.

We really lucked into the Amee Farm in Pittsfield, Vermont. I did lots of internet searches and came across it. We knew right away when we saw the house that it was the perfect place to throw a big family party. It was really intimate and felt authentically Vermont. They are very sweet and helpful and helped us with a lot of the logistics for the weekend.

Flowers
Liz connected us to Trish from the Pittsfield Garden Center. Trish is amazing. We talked about the color palette and showed her the design of everything she just arrived on the day of with these gorgeous table flowers and bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages.

Photographer
Amanda Herzberger of Orchard Cove is an amazing talent and a really wonderful person. We were so lucky to have her photograph our wedding. She was so sweet and unassuming. She was somehow able to photograph every person at the wedding. Not just get their picture, but create the most wonderful portraits. She captured some really beautiful moments.

Advice:
Stick to your budget in the beginning. Because in the end you will be choosing whether you want to spend time or money on things. Make a moodboard, lookbook stylesheet; whatever you call it. Giving talented vendors, designers and artists a visual guide for your taste and the tone and mood allows you to give them direction and artistic freedom — freeing them to create something more beautiful and unique than you could have imagined.

Big thanks to Amanda from Orchard Cove Photography and Cara for sharing your wedding day with us today! You can see part I from this wedding here.

  • Thank you for all the wonderful compliments and good wishes! We knew from the start we wanted to do cupcakes. The star wars figurines we bought a year ago because we thought they were cute. I have a little Princess Leia collection from high school. They are called Mighty Muggs. We got them at Target but I have seen them at Urban Outfitters.
