Little Borrowed Dress

So it’s tradition for brides to wear ‘something borrowed’ on their wedding day, but what if that lovely tradition extended to bridesmaids too? We know how expensive it can be to be a bridesmaid, which is why we are in love with Little Borrowed Dress and the practical and fashionable service they offer! They are the first online wedding boutique to offer bridesmaid dresses for rent, starting at just $50, giving brides the opportunity to choose a picture perfect dress at a price that all their bridesmaids can afford.

Little Borrowed Dress has a fantastic selection of beautiful dresses to suite every taste and with a rental price tag starting at $50, the option can’t be beat! If you really love the dress and want to hang on to it for the long haul, all of their styles are for sale too, starting at $150! All of the dresses are 100% silk and manufactured locally in the Garment District in New York City, which is an aspect we just adore! They have a range of shapes and colors to flatter all figures, designed with built-in adjustment points for a perfect fit. If you are still worried about fit, they send a free second size with every order! And you can request a free fabric swatch on their site here. For brides in the NY area, their showroom is open seven days week to come try on dresses before you order.

The borrowing process is simple and stress-free. Simply place your rental reservation online and the dress will arrive two weeks before the wedding ready-to-wear. After the big day, drop them in the mail in the pre-paid packaging and they handle the rest! The best part is the bridesmaids get to return the dresses, so their memories are of how fun the wedding was and not the once-worn dress gathering dust in their closet.

  • Wow…I am LOVING this idea! I was going to just have my bridesmaids wear black dresses because I felt really guilty asking them to spend $200 plus on a dress they would only wear at my wedding (I’ve been a bridesmaid enough times to know you NEVER wear the dress again). But I really wanted them to wear a peach color. Win win!!!

  • Love this idea!! We’re always trying to find ways for our brides to save money and this is a fantastic method. Their selection is beautiful and they ship all around the US, can’t beat that!

  • Be careful when ordering from LBD. They change their dye-lot and when you think you are getting one color…2 weeks before your wedding they send you dresses that are 3 shades darker. I wouldn’t recommend LBD to anyone. Very sweet people working there, but a very poorly ran company.

  • Here at LBD, we strive to make each and every one of our customers happy. For all bridesmaid dresses, including ours, dye lots will differ slightly and no two batches are exactly the same color. The colors will be the same color hue, but often are slightly lighter or darker shades of that color. This is why we guarantee you will get all your dresses from the same dye lot to ensure that all the dresses in your party match perfectly. We had a single instance where a bride received dresses from two different dye lots, so the shades were slightly off. To remedy the problem, we had two new dresses manufactured within days and shipped them out at our expense in time for the wedding to ensure the entire party was in the exact same shade. And for the inconvenience we also refunded one of the dresses that she had rented. Unfortunately, the bride preferred the slightly lighter shade of the original dye lot and was thus unhappy with her order.

We cannot replicate a dye lot exactly, however, which is why we are very up front on our website and in our rental contract about the fact that the shade of the dress may differ slightly from the free fabric swatches. We never want to see an unhappy customer, but some things are simply out of our control. If you have any questions or concerns about dye lots or the colors available, please reach out to us at hello {at} littleborroweddress.com.
