Brewery Warehouse Wedding

We love seeing raw industrial spaces transform into a modern wedding. This wedding shot by Louisa Bailey is one of those. Sarah and Joele added lots of bright flowers to soften up the space and add warmth to their reception at the Mountain Goat Brewery. Loving her Anaessia‘s gown!

From the bride, Sarah: The main thing we wanted for our wedding was for it to be relaxed and fun, but still with a simple elegance. We really wanted to find the balance of the industrial side of Melbourne that we love and a natural and organic feel. By nature, we are a really laid back couple, and we wanted everyone to unwind and feel really comfortable – including ourselves! We focused on not over-styling the night and really focused on having bright colours and beautiful flowers.

We didn’t really have a theme that we were working toward as such. We really wanted the colours to be vibrant – with a mix of mainly pink, yellow and orange. We wanted to make a statement with the colours and the flowers, to have an organic look and feel, whilst still remaining stylish and chic. I stamped all the place settings and bonbonniere myself and made our wishing well out of an old box and some wrapping paper!

We had our ceremony in Alexandra Gardens in Kew. It is such a beautiful space. We wanted a garden setting but with an intimate feel, this garden is quite small so it’s feels like your own space and it’s so lush! There were so many different options for photos, which is great! We really wanted to have the wedding in Melbourne, and for it to reflect Melbourne and the things we love about it. Mountain Goat Brewery certainly does that – industrial space, exposed bricks and a great relaxed vibe. A space you could make you own, without it being contrived or reserved. We loved the exposed bricks and vats and the amount of open space – we knew we could really make a statement with our flowers to make the space our own.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? My absolute best advice for future brides is to really trust your instinct. Try not to over think things – the best decisions we made were the quick decisions. We were really true to ourselves, and tried not to get influenced too much by other people!
