BBQ, Rock ‘n Roll Wedding

Erin and Jason’s love for music sparked their inspiration for their own wedding. Starting on a high note (pun intended),Katherine O’Brien Photography shot their engagement session at a record store, which carried through to their wedding day with lots of good music, two bands and dancing shoes.

From Katherine, the photographer: Erin & Jason were inspired by their love of music and the city of Austin for their awesome wedding at Star Hill Ranch! They printed and framed classic vintage photos of their favorite musicians for their table arrangements and seating charts. They also had their two favorites bands play a street dance in the middle of Star Hill Ranch’s main street. The Trisha’s opened and then T bird and the Breaks played until their exit. The first dance “Big River” by Johnny Cash, Jason is also a musician and played “The Weight” by The Band and Erin and her family started off the Father Daughter dance with “My Girl” by The Temptations.

  • Ahhh! I love this stationery! SO amazing and perfect for a barbecue. And what a gorgeous bride- seriously, she’s like the epitome of Texas sweetheart. Love this wedding!

  • Awesome wedding! Great BBQ and great music – how very Austin! Love the succulents too! Kudos to the photographer, check out the gallery for more stunners, loved the dress worn at the ceremony! Beautiful Bride!

  • LOVE this wedding! We’re getting married there in October and I’d love if if this fashionable and creative bride could tell me where they had the dance floor and cocktail hour (if there was one). Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful day!

  • First of all, I’m so honored to be on Ruffled, a blog which I followed daily as a bride to be! Thank you so much! My husband purposed to me at a street dance in Minnesota and we wanted that street dance, “hoedown” feel. The venue is made up of many historic buildings put together to be a little town of it’s own. Ashley, had five areas set up; wedding on the lawn, cocktail hour on the patio, dinner at the reception hall, all sepia tone old west photo booth in the grooms saloon and bands set up in the street. No dance floor, just the good old fashion dirt road ; ) We used the biergarten for cocktails and a dessert table and it all worked out well! Hope this helps!

  • I attended this wedding and it was nothing short of AMAZING! Ruffled obviously knows a wedding with greatly designed details. Not to mention a STUNNING bride and ROCKIN’ groom. LOVE!

  • Getting this daily burst of inspiration in my inbox really keeps me connected to the desires and dreams of the modern/retro couple…and it also keeps me believing in the transformation power of love.

  • This couple has a great style. They incorporated so many little touches that we were thinking of for our wedding! Not to mention the bride has the most gorgeous eyes I think I’ve ever see!

  • What an awesome wedding! Erin was an amazing bride to work with! She had such great vision every detail is so adorable! It turned out fabulously! I’m honored to be a part of such a beautiful wedding project! Love the photography along with everything else!

  • I love this! We’re having a similar feel to our wedding (BBQ, awesome Americana band, laid back vibe). It looks like the wedding is focused on everyone having a good time and listening to great music. Can’t go wrong, in my book!
