Romantic Savannah Restaurant Wedding

One thing we love so much about today’s wedding from Mackensey Alexander, Rhonda Martinez Weddings, and Moss and Magnolias is that the couple clearly made a point of prioritizing the elements of their wedding day that were most important to the two of them, and kept an easy-breezy attitude towards the rest. And when one of the things most important to the couple was having a Krispy Kreme cake instead of a traditional wedding cake, how could we not be smitten?

From the bride, Amy: Jarred and I met under a unique set of circumstances. My friend (his cousin) thought we would be the perfect match and after 2.5 years of long-distance (call us crazy), I found myself job searching in Savannah, Georgia where he would be attending medical school. He proposed a couple months later on the beach at Tybee Island. So, then we started planning our dream wedding.

We like to call our wedding a “destination wedding” for all our guests, since the majority of our guests were coming from my hometown in North Carolina or his hometown outside of Atlanta. We wanted to keep things simple—and truly capture the beauty of Savannah, the place where we would establish our first home together. My first step was to find people more familiar with the area than I was and that’s when my wonderful vendors (and now friends) stepped into the picture.

The planning process is all about finding a good balance. The moments I enjoyed the most were the moments that my husband, Jarred, helped me dream and plan. In many areas, we chose to simplify. Throughout the process, we kept finding and believing that less is more. We were able to capture the beauty of our venues, a beautiful historic chapel and glamorous, elegant restaurant set in a romantic former firehouse in downtown Savannah.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Set realistic, budget-aligned goals. Your expectations have the power to make or break what you remember. I truly feel that our wedding was seamless because the pressure for perfection was absent. Enjoy the planning process, celebrate the victories, be willing to compromise, and just breathe. This will be the best day of your life.
