Closing the day on a high note, a summery + handmade wedding shot by Heidi Vail Photography is filled to the brim with darling details crafted by the bride, Lauren. Be sure to check out all of the images in the gallery!

From Lauren: My dad and his friend brewed beer just for the wedding – made both a Midas Touch and a Brown Ale. I designed a custom beer label including Ryan and I’s initials and our wedding date.

Ryan and I hand picked branches from my parents’ backyard, which we then used to build our Chuppah. It was really a huge group effort to figure out how to assemble it and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who helped.

I designed, printed, and assembled the program fans myself, on one side I included the names of our wedding party, and on the other I included some trivia information about Ryan and I.

Music is such a huge part of Ryan and I’s relationship and I had an idea to record a CD of Ryan and I singing our favorite love songs; my brother (a sound engineer) recorded our voices and he provided the rest of the music to recreate the songs. I then drew the illustration of Ryan and I in our wedding day attire and designed the rest of the CD artwork. The inside sleeve included the quote from Shakespeare where we came up with the title of the CD (‘Play On’) along with our formal ‘Thank You’ to our guests. Feel free to read more about our recording adventure and designs, and listen to the tracks on my personal blog.

Ryan built a cornhole set for the wedding, which I then painted ‘The Traubs’ on to customize it to Ryan and I. We thought some lawn games and coloring would be perfect to entertain the younger kids at the wedding. I also personalized the coloring pages for the kids, printing out a coloring page of Ryan and I’s illustration from our CD cover, as well as a Jeep Wrangler with the sign ‘Just Married’ hanging across, just as we had done for the wedding. The kids had a blast coloring and ended up coming up to me throughout the wedding handing me their colored art as their gift to Ryan and I – so super sweet!

Rise and shine! Here in the U.S we’re just waking up from a long lazy weekend with the fam, to a beautiful Australian wedding shot by Jonathan Ong. Amy and Charlie’s wedding pampered their guests with lots of little touches, including homemade orange marmalade favors that her mom made. Click here to see all images from this wedding.

From the bride, Amy: Charlie and I wanted a big party with all the people we loved out under the stars. We envisioned a country/vintage theme with lots of colour.

Romantic, rustic, fun and memorable. We had 2 screens set up playing through a slideshow of approximately 100 photos dating back to when we were kids through to present. They captured many moments shared with many family and friends in the room. We tried to include a photo of everyone there. Our favors were orange marmalade that my mum homemade for our 150 guests. Our colour palette was vintage white, ivory with accents of burnt oranges, reds and vintage jades.

We were married at Spicers Hidden Vale, Grandchester, QLD. It is a boutique hotel operating on a working cattle station. It just had the most sensational views and country feel we both love – without being too far for our loved ones to travel.

Wedding Songs:

I walked down the aisle to Damien Rice, Blowers Daughter. Our first dance was to David Gray – This Years love (which the band changed to – This year’s love GONNA last…)
We cut the cake to Johnny Cash – Walk the Line.
