Patricia + Dennis’s Surrealist Session
Mon, Dec 7, 2009
This engagement session is off the hook! Inspired by this painting, the couple fearlessly trusted the talented photographer Caroline Ghetes’s idea and incorporated coffee bean bags into the shoot, along with a vintage mask and other props I have never seen in an engagement session before. I truly believe that a photographer’s creative freedom is always for the best interest of the couple, and it never fails. I am in awe with the result!
From Caroline:
Originally, their idea was to do a “The Notebook” inspired shoot, in a more modern way and we accomplished that with about half the pictures. I’ve also always wanted to inject a few strange ideas into an engagement session with a willing couple and some of these ideas/concepts were inspired by one of my favorite artists: Rene Magritte. In so many ways, we are alike in that the type of photography that I love the most, are the ones that when the viewer looks at a photo, they are left confused. Non-sensical & whimsical poses with no idea or concept or story behind it.

The photo on the right translates Caroline’s inspiration from Rene Magritte’s painting Les Amants:

These last two look like fashion designer ad campaigns:
