Real Weddings

This one is such a sweet DIY wedding, perfect to end the week in style. Photographed by the talented Portland based Ryan and AmandaYou Look Nice Today, this wedding is beautiful from beginning to end.

How much do you love Terra’s bouquet? Dahlias, roses and poms look SO good together. And the mix of pinks, reds white and yellow? Delightful.

From the bride, Terra:

Our wedding was very much a do-it-yourself, full family labor of love. I pulled ideas from various inspirations and my husband, parents, sister, niece and best friends all worked together to make every idea happen. My mom had the fabric sewn into a photobooth backdrop, my niece punched hundreds of hearts out of vintage sheet music to scatter on the tables. My sister found beautiful wood rounds to use as centerpieces. My dad cut and sanded all the frames for the Scrabble tile messages placed at various tables… the list goes on!

We decorated inside by hanging tissue paper pom poms from POM LOVE in Portland. They look like bright pastel clouds and totally added to the light, happy atmosphere. The guest book was a vintage pink typewriter (an idea I had seen at a friend’s wedding).

The vendors were all family friends or local Portlanders that have since become friends. Our photographers Ryan and Amanda from You Look Nice Today, did an amazing job executing all the ideas we had discussed. For example, I knew I wanted a photo booth set up with a bright backdrop to have fun, lighthearted shots of all our guests. After listening to the other plans we had for vintage details he suggested adding the empty picture frames and vintage cameras which photographed so well! The photo booth was definitely the hit of the party.

Well, so were the flowers. Gina at Bohemian Bouquets was incredible. I was immediately drawn to her style (she’s not your granny’s florist.) Her work rivals that of any hip, modern florist doing great work today & she can execute anything. We had such a fun night. My only regret was that it went by too quickly. It was the perfect wedding for us… perfectly us in every way.

Gorgeous! Once again a Portland wedding that’s very similar to the one I’m planning on throwing! I love your photos and will definitely be checking your photographer out. Very impressed. =)

I love all your little details. They come together so beautifully! This is absolutely georgous.

I am looking for birds similar to the ones used for the cake for some of my decor. Anyone know where I can find these?

Adriana, where are you located? I spent forever looking for some for my wedding next summer. If you’re in the Portland, OR area I know that Presents of Mind just got some in. If not, you can find the store online at http://www.presentsofmind.tv/ and email Seasons (the owner). She’d definitely set you up with some. I live in southern oregon and did all of my contacts with her via email. Another thought, we actually ordered custom-made, life-sized felted birds from a lady on etsy to use as our cake toppers but we’ll have several of these smaller birds and paper cranes (I’ve made 469 so far) scatter around. The woman we found on etsy is fabulous!
    Good luck!

I am going to ask Terra (the bride) where she got those, but I think I remember seeing similar ones at Michael’s or Joann’s.
