DIY Ikea Revamp Coaster
To make a save the date coaster, you will need:
-Ikea cork coasters (you can find them for dirty cheapo here), I revamped the old ones we had before and never liked.
- A photo, newspaper, or save the date cards (hint, hint) you would like to use. I used my (oh no she didn’t!) Rolling Stone magazine cover from their 1000th Issue. It has that cool 3D finish, I had to do something with it.
- Laminating sheets (you can find them at Staples, or buy them here).
- ZipDry paper glue (the cheapest place I found online was here, but you can find this glue at any craft store). This glue works wonders with any type of paper. I do not recommend, however, trying with adhesive spray. It won’t permanently stick to the cork surface.
- Pen for tracing the template, scissors.

Step One: trace the coaster on the paper you want to use and on the laminating sheet.
Step Two: cut the paper and the round corners, then glue onto the coaster.
Step Three: peel and stick the laminating sheet onto the coaster.
Here are my suggestions based on my experience:
- Use a paper cutter instead of scissors. Lines will be straight and it will make your life easier.
- Use an exacto knife to cut the round corners. It works better than round paper punch.
- Use the finest point pen you have. The finer the point, the closer it will be to the edges of the coaster when you’re tracing the template.
- Put really heavy books on top of the coasters after you glued them.
I’d LOVE to see a picture of your DIY coasters if you make them!
